NATURE IN NEIGHBORHOODS DISTRICT 2

A participatory budgeting process with Metro parks and recreation Community Choice Grants to ideate and develop with community the nature and park projects they want to see

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR

Partners and Collaborators: Knot Studio, MultiCultural Collaborative

Project Budget $300,000

Size: District-wide

Access to greenspace within the urban environment has long been tied to systemic investment and disinvestment based on wealth and ethnic distribution of community groups. Building on the success of our pilot program in District 4, we joined Metro (regional government) to successfully facilitate this award-winning participatory budgeting program this time in District 2 (Clackamas County).

For this district, we worked with our CDOs to bring a strong focus on disability justice, advocating for design approaches that make nature spaces more universally accessible.
